A note on Homo Academicus

In the preface of this book, author speaks of the experiences this book contains being similar to those attributed by the David Garnett to the hero of his short story ‘A man in the zoo’. In this story, a young man, as a result of quarrel with his girlfriend. writes in despair to the director of the zoo to offer him a mammal missing from his collection, that is, himself so that he is placed in the cage, next to the chimpanzee, with a notice saying ,

‘homo sapience, This specimen is a gift from John Cromentie, Esquire. Visitors are requested not to tease the man with personal remarks’.

I have not read the story. I am reading this book now. I am not sure if I’ll be able to finish it during my doctrate program.
